West Perth was in a winning position at three quarter time against league leaders Subiaco but unfortunately didn't score a major in the final term to go down by eighteen points. In the last two encounters the Falcons have been goalless in five out of the eight quarters; this trend was to be costly once again as the Lions controlled the final term to run out victors.
West Perth Football Club is looking forward to hosting a "unique" City/Country Carnival on July 13.
Two district teams of 14-15 year olds will be chosen from West Perth's Metropolitan zone to play against the club's Country Development Squad in a three-way round robin competition.
The carnival will give local players the chance to represent their district and reward their form and conduct, and give country players a development opportunity against the city base.
The West Perth
Football Club is hoping to enroll more than 400 children in July's Smarter than
Smoking Holiday Clinics, whether they play football or not.
The clinics will give young footballers the opportunity to receive skills
coaching from senior Falcon's players and gain an insight into how the club
runs.
West Perth District Manager Gerry O'Dea said the clinics were not just aimed at
kids already involved in the sport.
The West Perth Football Club was saddened recently to learn of the passing of former player Norm Knell. The Falcons family would like to extend their deepest sympathy to Norm's family at this sad time.
Norm played a total of 177 games for the club, culminating in 3 premierships in 1969, 71 and 75. It is a testimony to his ability that he played in such a successful time in the clubs history.
Norm, who was also a life member of the club, was an ardent West Perth supporter, being recently seen at the Garlic Munchers function, celebrating this wonderful evening with former teammates.
Norm made a significant contribution to the proud history of the West Perth Football Club and he will be sadly missed.
