West Perth Football Club Parts Ways with Inaugural WAFLW Head Coach Stephen Hazell
The West Perth Football Club wishes to advise it’s members that Inaugural WAFLW Head Coach, Stephen Hazell has decided to step away from his role effective immediately.
Steve’s commitment and drive to grow women’s football within our zone and our club has been critical as we’ve grown exponentially.
Steve took over our Rogers Cup side in 2020 after spending years within our boys’ talent pathways and raised the Rogers Cup premiership cup in 2021 going through undefeated that year.
Steve was appointed WAFLW Head Coach in our Inaugural year of 2022 where although we saw struggles on-field, we saw significant growth and development into younger individuals who are playing professional, consistent League football this season.
Our WAFLW Side has been significantly improved in 2023 with an injection of experience and mature heads which has seen our side sit 3 wins - 4 losses at the halfway point of the season.
The club wishes to acknowledge Steve, his wife Shelley and their family for their contributions to our club and we wish Steve all the very best in his future endeavours.
The club is now in active discussions both internally and externally to facilitate a smooth transition for our WAFLW players for the remainder of the 2023 season.
