LETTER FROM FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear valued member,
On behalf of the Board of Directors and our CEO, I write to you all thanking you for your support thus far in season 2015.
I also ask you to further consider engaging with your fellow supporters, players and coaches at our upcoming Gala Dinner Auction on Saturday 4th July.
As the season approaches its half way point, the players and coaches continue to deliver results providing pleasure for us all. We currently sit second on the League ladder (5-3 win loss ratio), Reserves are third (4-4 win loss ratio) and the Colts are fifth (5-3 win loss ratio). There is also a sense of satisfaction that we are five from five at HBF Arena so far this season.
Planning for our much anticipated new Club Rooms is now gathering pace and we expect a scope for design to go to tender in the next three months. It is important to understand that this facility is being built on state government land with a significant funding contribution from the City of Joondalup. This along with other sporting codes being involved in the precinct development means that there are a number of processes and protocols the West Perth Football Club has to work though. I am pleased to say these are progressing well and we have been assured building will be completed as planned in 2016.
Sponsorship and membership continue to provide a significant proportion of our income. We are doing particularly well in these categories, ranking in the top two clubs in the WAFL. This is something to be proud of and I thank all Falcon members and sponsors for their support.
While our membership and sponsorship remain strong and tracking ahead of where we were last year, our Club continues to work under significant financial constraints due to our current leasing arrangement with Venues West. Our ability to generate income is vastly different to every other WAFL Club which is why club functions are so critical to our financial viability and determine to a large degree, our on-field competitiveness and success.
Members often talk to me about recruitment. First and foremost we can only recruit if we can finance it. When allocating funds to our football budget we also have to consider other areas of our football department that are viewed as critical to improving our on field performance.
For our club to continue to improve and win games of football and ultimately challenge for a premiership, it is imperative that we have your support at our Gala Dinner Auction. This is our key fundraiser for this season and crucial to the Club’s financial position this year.
A fantastic evening’s entertainment is planned with players and coaches in attendance. Please see the 2015 Gala Dinner flyer for further information and download the 2015 Gala Dinner - Booking Form and return to the Club to register your attendance - please make the commitment to attend this year and enjoy the company of friends and fellow Falcon fans.
I look forward to seeing you there and remember “It’s a Grand Old Flag”.
Does your heart beat true?
Brett Raponi
President
